This part-time Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Business & Marketing programme is for people who want to top up a Higher National Diploma (HND) (or similar) to a full bachelor’s honours degree. Throughout the duration of this part-time marketing degree course in Hong Kong, you will study specialist modules that cover marketing strategy, e-marketing strategy, consumer psychology and strategic integrated marketing communications.

You will also undertake broader-based modules that develop skills in project management and strategic management.   • A critical understanding of international strategic management thinking and its application in practice.

  • The ability to analyse and critically evaluate the complexity of organisations and their internal and external environments against observations of the practices of real organisations.
  • The ability to synthesise a range of studies of organisations and assimilate new theoretical models and offer solutions relative to strategic management issues.

SIM335 - Managing Projects (20 credits)

Learning Outcomes – Knowledge:

  • A critical understanding of a range of models and concepts associated with the management of projects.
  • A critical understanding of projects from a financial, human resource and time related perspective.
  • An appreciation of the requirements for control and the application of control mechanisms.
  • A critical understanding of the relationship between time, cost and quality and the alternate approaches available for managing them.

  • A critical thinking and analysis skills.
  • The ability to apply and evaluate tools and techniques associated with the management of projects.
  • Reporting and diagnostic skills.

MKT306 - Marketing Strategy (20 credits)

Learning Outcomes – Knowledge:

  • A critical understanding of the nature of marketing strategy and its significance for the organisation.
  • A critical understanding of the drivers and factors affecting the choice of marketing strategies.
  • A critical understanding of appropriate models and techniques that aid the strategic marketing process.
  • A critical understanding of contemporary marketing issues and problems in a strategic context.

  • The ability to interpret advanced information and marketing data handling skills.
  • The ability to assess communications skills to develop effective relationship marketing.

UGB321 - E-Marketing Strategy (20 credits)

Learning Outcomes:

  • A Understanding of the role of e-marketing in the contemporary business environment.
  • A critical understanding of the relevance and application of internet technology in the marketing of both off- and online organisations.
  • A critical understanding of how the Internet is located in a strategic business context.
  • A critical understanding of the models and theories of e-marketing.
  • The ability to analyse information and/or a situation.
  • The ability to solve problems and make decisions.
  • The ability to read, synthesise and report on current e-marketing-related issues.

UGB310 - Consumer Psychology (20 credits)

Learning Outcomes:

  • A critical understanding of the different approaches to consumer research with an emphasis on the positivist and interpretivist viewpoints.
  • A critical understanding of the individual dimensions of consumer behaviour, considering issues related to the development of relevant contemporary theories.
  • A critical understanding of the social aspects of consumer behaviour in an era of Globalization.
  • The ability to build a conceptual framework of consumer profiles.
  • The ability to to apply psychological and social dimensions of consumer behaviour in problem-solving situations.
  • The ability to develop an effective-focused strategy.

UGB327 - Strategic Integrated Marketing Communications (20 credits)

Learning Outcomes – Knowledge:

  • Critically appraised the concept of ‘integrated marketing communications’ and how this relates to other areas of marketing and business management.
  • Critically evaluated the key elements of the marketing communications mix.
  • Made appropriate recommendations on the use of integrated marketing communications concepts and practices.

Learning Outcomes – Skills:

  • Demonstrated the ability to apply the theories, concepts and techniques of marketing communications management.

Mode of Study
Part Time Blended Learning
  • This degree can be completed in a minimum of 9 months.
  • Part-time tuition includes 24 hours of online lectures and 12 hours of face-to-face tutorials per 20-credit module.
  • Tutorial schedule is designed to suit busy professionals who work and study at the same time.

Entry Requirements
HKDSE/HKCEE/HKALE/IB Diploma/Associate Degree/Higher Diploma
  • Holder of a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business (Marketing); OR
  • Applicants who are holders of Higher Diploma/Associate Degree in Business / Marketing or equivalent are considered on a case by case basis; AND
  • English proficiency of IELTS 6.0; GCSE Grade C or equivalent.
  • Other students without the above qualification are considered on a case by case basis or can enter the final year top-up programme via HND pathways.

Candidates whose first language is English or whose previous verified qualification was taught and assessed in English are exempted from the aforementioned English Language requirement.
