This Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Management will ensure you have a strong grounding in the fundamentals of business such as strategy, operations and logistics, human resource management and marketing. This will provide you with the widest range of transferable business skills leading to you being a well-rounded graduate.

The focus on employability modules complements the broader skills that you’ll gain in understanding how businesses create success, how to manage business operations, how to make informed decisions and how to lead change in organisations.

UGB362 - Global Entrepreneurship and Innovation (20 credits)

Learning Outcomes – Knowledge:

  • Critical understanding of global entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainability issues and challenges.
  • Critical appraisal of a micro – enterprise project based activity through active research, innovation, development and pitching of a unique solution.
  • Critical reflection of entrepreneurship and innovation theories, concepts and techniques

Learning Outcomes – Skills:

  • Enterprise work–based skills and attributes (Teamwork, analytical, problem solving creative & strategic thinking, information and computer technology, ability to think laterally, report writing, business and financial planning – marketing, operations, human resource, legal, ethical and global awareness; ability to pitch ideas, numeracy and grammar, budgeting, forecasting time keeping and networking).
  • Communication skills – written & oral, awareness and use of new technology and social media including the development of research, concept development, networking, presentation skills as well as pitching an idea to potential investors or stakeholders.
  • The ability to research, innovate, identify, design, plan, undertake, manage and exploit an entrepreneurial and innovation opportunity.

UGB363 - Strategic Corporate Finance (20 credits)

Learning Outcomes – Knowledge:

  • Critical understanding of the key strategic decisions that a business may have to make and appreciated how accounting and finance can assist in making and evaluating those decisions.
  • Critical understanding of specific analytical skills in key decision areas within strategy and finance at local and international levels.
  • Critical understanding of the limitations of the current state of financial theory in making strategic business decisions.

Learning Outcomes – Skills:

  • Competence in applying the key valuation concepts and methodologies of financial decision making in order to contribute to the wider decision making of the organisation.

UGB371 - Managing and Leading Change (20 credits)

Learning Outcomes – Knowledge:

  • A critical understanding of change variables (i.e. the change content, process, context and human resource factors) and how these influence individual and organizational change readiness.
  • An evaluative understanding of models and approaches to change and their suitability to differing organizational contexts.
  • An evaluative understanding of models and approaches that support the organizations human resources to transition through change.

Learning Outcomes – Skills:

  • The ability to investigate and develop diagnostic skills that support managers and leaders to be more effective in assessing change requirements in organizations.
  • The ability to propose a set of recommendations and a supporting action plan for implementing change, that gives due consideration to the process and human factors.

UGB372 - Marketing in a Digital World (20 credits)

Learning Outcomes – Knowledge:

  • A critical understanding of transformations in marketing practices and thinking that are occurring in response to changes in the technological and social environments.
  • A critical understanding of the need for an integrative approach in strategic marketing.
  • Critical evaluation of the challenges faced by marketers in the digital era.

Learning Outcomes – Skills:

  • Analysis and critical evaluation of applied information.

SIM336 - Strategic Management (20 credits)

Learning Outcomes – Knowledge:

  • A critical understanding of the origins and various approaches to strategic management.
  • A critical understanding of how to interpret, analyse and evaluate the impact of the global environment on strategic management at regional, national and international levels.
  • A critical understanding of international strategic management thinking and its application in practice.

Learning Outcomes – Skills:

  • The ability to analyse and critically evaluate the complexity of organisations and their internal and external environments against observations of the practices of real organisations.
  • The ability to synthesise a range of studies of organisations and assimilate new theoretical models and offer solutions relative to strategic management issues.

UGB361 - Developing the Reflexive Practitioner (20 credits)

Learning Outcomes:

  • A critical understanding of their evolving identity and or self-image as future managers and leaders through critical reflective practice.
  • A critical understanding of the challenges for the authentic Business professional of the 21st century.
  • The ability to critically reflect on the qualitative research design strategy which uses personal data sources.
  • Critical evaluation and analysis of personal data sources which are presented as a storyboard.
  • Through critical reflection, developing routines of self-awareness as future managers and leaders.

Mode of Study
Full Time Face-to-face tutorials
  • This degree can be completed in a minimum of 3 years.
  • Day-time tuition includes 36 hours of face-to-face tutorials per 20-credits module (exclude dissertation)
  • The tutorial schedule is designed to suit full-time study.

Entry Requirements
HKDSE/HKCEE/HKALE/Associate Degree/Higher Diploma

There is a possibility to be admitted to Level 3 if you are:

  • Holders of an appropriate National Higher Diploma / Diploma / Associate Degree / Advanced Diploma / Higher Diploma in a related discipline with an English proficiency of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent (example: if you have proof of prior studies taught and assessed in English)
  • The University will consider suitable candidates on a case-by-case basis.

*Candidates whose first language is English or whose previous verified qualification was taught and assessed in English are exempted from the aforementioned English Language requirement.
